Basic Mods Questions- Unlock, Root, AdAway, Tether, TWRP

When I get phone I'm most interested in doing build prop edit for tether, installing custom recovery TWRP for 6P and AdAway would be nice. Loss of Google Pay not a show stopper. Would like to do OTA factory image updates or modified images until custom ROMs and Kernels mature.
Can someone please post idiot proof specific instructions or guide links. I know some basics but assume others do not.

I believe that you can't go back to older versions of software with this version, so do I need to wait for kernels and roms to be updated before I can root?

All of us know, although EMUI3.1 is based on Android 5.1.1, WE CAN NOT SEE SOME LOLLIPOP FEATURES ON IT.
For example, we could not see Translucent Bars on some application which has been coded with Lollipop Translucent Bars, but only Kitkat Translucent Bars!
But now I found a way to let some apps which has Lollipop Translucent Bars show their NICE Translucent Bars!!!

Before telling you about that, I want to let you know: The way that EMUI shows "Translucent Bars" is just based on your wallpaper and make it like frosted glass. So if your wallpaper is black color, your Bars maybe looks grey...

Because of it, we can now let your Bars use Translucent Bars(The really Translucent Bars, but needs the apps has been coded with lollipop Translucent Bars):
THIS WAY DOES NOT NEED ROOT! IT JUST COSTS REALLY LITTLE TIME~
And you must know, almost all system apps' bars maybe look ugly, like this...


What we should do, it just changes wallpapers twice!

[1]HUAWEI LAUNCHER
1. Download any Huawei theme and get .hwt file.
2. Use any unzip sofaware and unzip it.
3. Put emui3.1bg.png into it(I think you will now how to do it.), then zip again, make sure it likes before(Well, added a photo...), change its name to XXX.hwt
4. Put the new .hwt into (NOT SDCARD1) /sdcard/HWThemes(if there is not it, you must create one)
5. Open THEMES APP on your EMUI phone and change to the theme you changed before.
6. Open emui3.1.png with system library, and set it to the launcher wallpaper.
7. It maybe works, if not, do 1-6 again.

[2]OTHER LAUNCHER(LIKE NOVA LAUNCHER)
1. Change your launcher wallpaper to emui3.1bg.png.
2. Open emui3.1.png with system library, and set it to the launcher wallpaper(For example, if you use Nova, you must make sure when you set wallpaper from system library, you must press "Nova wallpaper"(maybe these words, because I use Chinese System)).
3. It maybe works, if not, do 1-2 again.

Has anyone whatsoever found a "one click root" app solution for the Moto x 2014 AT&T edition currently running Android 5.1 yet? If not available still whatsoever then I must plead with each and all of u to plz assist me I beg ya! I issue a personal challenge to whoever happens to read this thread that has a good heart and think ya possibly possess the talents and skills necessary to develop a one click root solution for it to make it happen for me and everyone else that's been struggling for years to find a solution and you'll undoubtedly go down in xda history as the legendary person to make the impossible possible when absolutely nobody else could! I've been waiting for ages for a root for A5CN701, yet no one has even tried to figure it out
I've also found a lot of posts showing how to downgrade to 5.0 but no one has made a detailed instruction and confirmed that it works!
Seriously, i've been dying for a method to root!
Anyone has any idea, please share at this topic! Much appreciated!

S5 Memo Recovery w/ Broken Screen & No Root

Alright, so - my wife left her phone on the trunk of her car this afternoon, it fell off on the highway, and got in a (losing) fight with a tire. The screen is absolutely destroyed, but thanks to the case she had on it, the main body is mint condition. Everything works as it should, aside from the screen.

My son is 11 months old, and all of his milestone moments from the last 6 months are on her phone. Teeth, steps, words, foods, activities - his whole history. She was using the stock Memo application (for real? why???) without having it linked to a Samsung account (because, Google).

So, I've got a Samsung Galaxy S5 that doesn't have USB Debugging enabled, isn't rooted, and has a screen that's not only non-functioning, it's probably only 90% still there. It boots and runs just fine, and I can access files (non-root) while plugged into a PC.

As far as I can tell, the memo files should be located (/dbdata/databases/com.sec.android.app.memo)

I'm at a loss here on how to recover the files - I've already paid the deductible for a new phone, which should be here late next week...

Any and all help will be appreciated - thanks in advance!

i was using Note 5 N920C with 5.1.1 Smoothly.i just rooted phone with SpaceX-Kernel-v0.1 Successfully after i put my google and samsung account after Restart phone i am getting this MSG KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock. then power off.
i still able to enter in DLM and Recovery Mode i wiped my data from recovery cashe but still same.
i also tried to install stock Rom but its Failed

plz advise me what should i do now

Boot Loop SPG611 Need help to root my tablet please

Hello,

I got the Z3tc SPG611 on lollipop firwmare .200
No matter what I tried I keep on getting bootloop

I have followed instructions: developer option, unknown source, install driver for flashtool successfully on win10...
I flashed the old firmware without any exception, and then the D6603 exploit system only.
When I try to restart the tablet it keeps on bootlooping at the blue animation thing.

the only thing i am not confident about is the MTP mode, i can't find the option to turn it off (not in storage like on nexus devices).

any help would be appreciated. thanks

How to block ads without root

Since this is a vanilla android phone, the only real modification I wanted was to change the hosts file to block ads. Turns out you can do that without rooting your phone, but you DO need an unlocked bootloader.

After you're unlocked, you'll need the TWRP recovery image:

Reboot into the factory bootloader, then into TWRP:

Reboot, DON'T install superuser when prompted, and you're done! You'll still have the factory recovery, but you will get the device is corrupt message since this changes the system.

There may be an easier way to do this, but just wanted to put it out there if there's anyone else looking to do the same thing.

Root Methods not Found for my Device

Been digging for a way to root my Samsung Galaxy J1(SM-J100ML) and found none.
I tried the method with SM-J100H, sadly, it bricked my phone. Good thing I found a way on how to recover.
Below are the details I can give about my phone. Any help is appreciated. :o

I just got a new lg gpad try rootking and lg root nothing is working android version is 5.0.2 and build number LRX22G and software is V49510e keep in mine im a noob to andorid side rooting.
