Unlocked, rooted EVO 4G LTE. Now I just need a ROM & how to do it?

I've Unlocked, and Rooted my EVO 4G LTE.
It has TWRP Recovery and installed SuperSU.

Now I need to find the right, stable, smooth, ROM to flash. I would be happy with basic Android. I don't understand what features I'd want from a custom ROM.

I'm planning to use this as a wifi Internet, email, camera device without cellular service.

I assume that by getting rid of HTC Sense and all the extra bloat apps that Sprint and HTC had on there that I can keep this device running as a smooth Android tool.

I'd be happy with the latest Android version that will run well on it. (I've had the experience of Lollipop on an old Nexus 7 2012 WiFi and it doesn't work well. Very lagggy. So I flashed that one all the way back to JellyBean to get it run smoothly.) So for this EVO 4G LTE, I don't know if it will handle a more recent Android or not. I'm willing to try custom ROMs if they are stable and complete (the main features work well, etc.)

I am inexperienced in rooting / flashing. I used the Universal Toolkit after unlocking to flash TWRP and root with SuperSU. That worked.

So I need help in finding the right ROM and the how-to of installing it. Thanks.

VOLTE on rooted device?

Anyone know how to get VOLte working on their Note 5 while rooted?

It worked on my Note 4 using stock kernel, or an older version of Emotion kernel,

but haven't been able to use it yet with rooted Note 5. The call always fails before connecting.

GUIDE: Install Sony Walkman on LG-G4 (rooted, unlocked, H-815, not tested on others!)

Hello guys,

after some sleepless nights and a strong wish to throw my phone against a wall, i finally found a way to get the sony walkman Port from IBANEZ7 (thanks to him for his awesome job) working.
Everyone who already tried it will know the problem:
No matter what you do, the player either force closes or the sound enhancements just won`t work. Well, there is a way around it, even if you won`t have the newest version. The only thing that doesn`t work is the visualization.

Before starting, please read the following very carefully:
By following this guide, you will do everything on your own risk.
This is tested ONLY on the H815 international/european unbranded model with unlocked bootloader and root.
The firmware i used is this custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/d...d-4-1-t3213742 based on android 5.1. I would also like to generally recommend this ROM, since it`s awesome.
I`m pretty sure that this also will work with the G4 stock 5.1 firmware (maybe also 5.0) since all those walkmans gave me the exact same errors with stock 5.0, stock 5.1 and the 7 HD version, but again, it`s tested only with the 7HD 6.1 rom, so keep that in mind. As a general warning, I`m not responsible for any errors, bricks, etc and i won`t be able to help you if something goes wrong.

Now, let`s get on:
Step 1:
Make sure your phone model and software matches the description above and has the following things installed and working:

- TWRP recovery or a similiar recovery program.
- system app remover - in case you have to remove old walkman files and/or the stock LG-G4 player and equalizer.

Step 2:
Download these 3 zips and put them on your phone (SD card or internal root folder)

Walkman 2.0 by ibanez7: http://www.mediafire.com/download/cl...By_ibanez7.zip

Walkman 3.1 by Ibanez7
http://www.mediafire.com/download/7q...By_ibanez7.zip

Walkman 3.5 by Ibanez7
http://www.mediafire.com/download/bw...By_ibanez7.zip

All links are taken from his official thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2730431 so don`t worry.

Step 3:
Disable or deinstall ANY sound enhancement/equalizer like Viper, music FX etc. and even the stock LG-G4 equalizer. I deinstalled everything, including the stock music player and equalizer, but you can try to just disable them.

Step 4 (SKIP this if you`ve never tried to install walkman before)
Go into system app remover, give it root permission if you haven`t already, then go into system apps and deinstall the following:

- extension for wikipedia, extension for youtube, extension for youtube karaoke, extension for google song text search (all 4 have the same symbol, which is a musical note)
- clear audio settings (may have another name depending on the walkman version you tried to install, but it`s the white equalizer symbol with three switches)
- headphone chooser (headphone symbol)
- visualization
- walkman (could be named music, depending on the version you tried to install).
Since the stock LG player is also called music, search for this symbol if you don`t find a "walkman": http://www-static.se-mc.com/blogs.di...fb3d011c3d.jpg

Step 5 (Installation)

To make sure that everything you did in step 3 and 4 was correctly applied, reboot your phone and reassure yourself that everything is really disabled/deinstalled.
After doing that, reboot your phone again, but this time into TWRP recovery.
Now do the following:

- Wipe cache and dalvik cache
- Install the Zips you downloaded in step 2 in the following order (THE CORRECT ORDER IS VERY IMPORTANT, YOU CAN GET BOOTLOOP IF YOU CHANGE IT!)
Do not restart your phone or wipe cache/dalvik between the zips, just install one after another.

1: Walkman 2.0
2: Walkman 3.1
3: Walkman 3.5
4: Walkman 2.0 (yes, again!)

After doing that, just reboot your phone into system without wiping cache and dalvik. Your walkman and all it`s sound enhancements should work flawlessly now. Please note that it can take up to a minute until the sound enhancements start to working after every reboot of the phone, so be patient and just wait a little bit.

OPTIONAL (not directly related with walkman)

As an optional step, i`d strongly recommend to also follow this guide, as it will not only make the earphone output much louder, but also enhances the sound quality for some weird reason:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/t...sting-t3182304
Instead of editing "mixer_paths.xml" on your phone (you will understand what i`m talking about when you read the guide) you can just copy it to the root of your phone via Root explorer and then copy it to the PC from the phone. From there, you can easily make a backup by copy and paste and also easily edit the file with "Notepad++" (do not use word, regular notepad or similiar standard windows text programs!!!). It`s much easier on the PC, since you can just bring up the search bar via STRG + F once the file is opened in Notepad++ and then simply paste <path name="headphones-advanced"> in there, so you will find the parameter instantly, instead of searching the whole text on your phone....Once you edited the "mixer_paths.xml" - i would recommend a value between 86 - 89 (94 is way too loud and gets distorted) just put it back on the root of your phone (keep a backup of the original on the PC or in a separate folder in your phone, so you don`t replace it), then go into root explorer, find the file, copy and paste it back into "root/system/etc". Now long press on the file, a menu will show up. Click on permissions and set it on RW-R-R (all three boxes checked under "read", and the upper first checked under "write", rest should be unchecked. Now you`re good to go and your phone will be loud as F--K :D
I know you probably don`t have a clue what i`m talking about, but you will understand when you read his instructions.

Have fun and be careful in what you`re doing!

Softbricked my AT&T Active trying to go from 4.4.2 rooted to 5.0.1 rooted.

I tried to update my old phone from 4.4.2 rooted to 5.0.1 and keep the root by having my cousin do it for me. Unfortunately, he used the guide on here for the normal S4 instead of the S4 Active, leaving me with a phone that says "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone" and "SECURE FAIL: KERNEL" in the corner. Google searches are fruitless. I have tried using this method, but upon starting ODIN I get this fail message and the following:

Missing screen mirroring on non rooted note 5 on sprint SOLVED!

Ok on my non rooted note 5 on sprint the instructions about going to the settings and edit and select screen mirroring don't work, as IT'S NOT there. To enable it, take a picture, go to the album, select the picture, hit share, at the bottom click screen mirroring. Way to go Samsung and Sprint. I'm pretty sure that this is either the result of the last update or Sprint.

24b stock rooted easiest downgrade process?

I am currently running the 24b stock rooted and would like to get TWRP installed. I understand I need to downgrade, however what is the easiest way to do so? Do I need to go all the way back to 10c stock? Then root, install recovery and update radio etc? Or can I simply downgrade to 23c?

My goal is to run the newest Skydragon and 35b bootstack by xdabbeb to have HD calling.

Thanks!

Unable to flash from 4.4.2 to stock or rooted Lollipop

I tried what I was advised here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note...8423?nocache=1

I can successfully flash it but Kit Kat still boots up every time. I don't know what to do. Maybe twrp? How do I do that.
May also be relevant that I cannot seem to boot into recovery to do the fixes after I flash. 4.4.2 stil comes up.

Cheers!

Can WiFi Drivers Be Deleted On Rooted Note 4?

Hey all, quick question. If I root a Note 4, is there a way to delete the wifi driver in order to remove wifi from the phone? I seem to remember reading this was possible somewhere before but I can't find any info on it currently. (No idea where I read it.) I assume there is some sort of file explorer program that you can use to delete drivers from the phone once you root it? Thanks!

Change call notification on d5322 5.1.1 rooted

Hello,

hoping writing this in the right section of the forum (also because I did not find simular threads) I wanted to ask you for help regarding call notifications on the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual d5322.
It is rooted with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, I installed a caller-screen-application (Ultimate Caller Screen, but tried also with other applications), I changed the notification rights to "Priority" for the callscrenn-app,
but often the normal Android Phone-Application is going to notify the call. I searched also in the call-menu for disabling notification, but nothing found. I installed several "settings"-apps, but without success.
Do you, as experts, have any idea?

Thank you!

Stock and Rooted system.img files for H81010b

I am currently running the H810 using the H81010b firmware. I made a backup of my system.img, rooted it, and then flashed the rooted img file to my device successfully. There is another thread in this section where the OP states that the b version he posted does not work/was reported to bootloop someone's device. So I'm posting mine since it does work, and also my stock image if anyone on H81010b wants to go back to stock. You can find them on my Google Drive here:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?...2s&usp=sharing
Feel free to make a mirror of these files whoever wants to!!!! Just unzip them and from download mode do:

Code:

dd if=/data/media/0/rootedsystem.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=579584 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0

As stated here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/o...3#post62028523
Please MAKE SURE to set the "rootedsystem.img" filename in the command above to match the name of the file you want to flash after unzipping them!!!!
Remember UNZIP THE FILES FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And unzip them to your internal storage.
DO NOT FLASH THE ZIP FILES DIRECTLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Also from what I understand this will ONLY WORK if you are already using the same firmware (H81010b).
DO NOT flash this over a different version firmware!!!!
Also, proceed at YOUR OWN RISK!!! I am not responsible if this bricks your device, causes your house to fall into a sinkhole, makes your cat have babies, etc.. usual disclaimer.

In general my rooted system.img file is probably not really needed since people can create their own if they have a working phone using the instructions on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...23&postcount=2 and would be the preferred method since you're using your own system.img file you created directly from your own phone, although in theory it should be exactly the same as my system.img file.
However my stock system.img of the H81010b might be of more use to some people who maybe didn't make a backup of their system.img file and want to return to stock ;)

Just rooted, froze apps, and now stuck on Verizon screen

I just rooted last night and everything was good... This morning all I did was freeze some of the stock Verizon apps, and the system crashed. When it reboots now, it's stuck at the Verizon screen. I can access Recovery, and have tried "fastboot erase cache" but that hasn't fixed it. Any suggestions? Please help!
