Basic Mods Questions- Unlock, Root, AdAway, Tether, TWRP

When I get phone I'm most interested in doing build prop edit for tether, installing custom recovery TWRP for 6P and AdAway would be nice. Loss of Google Pay not a show stopper. Would like to do OTA factory image updates or modified images until custom ROMs and Kernels mature.
Can someone please post idiot proof specific instructions or guide links. I know some basics but assume others do not.

T.m. Htc one m9 rebooted and now has a pin unlock screen which i didnt engage.

I am sending our this S.o.S. to anyone that could possibly be off some kind of help to me please!!!!!! I have a HTC ONE M9 T-Mobile varriant not unlocked not stolen nor a bad IMEI. I stoped my service a lik while back due to some disputes and what have you so needless to say they ate still working on it meanwhile phone is off on their behalf. So I went and got the pre-paid monthly SIM starter kit. WOOT WOOT Cell service again...... No problems for the last few weeks. Then today my phone shuts off and reboots it's on its own. But now there is a pin unlock screen to unlock the phone. Before I can use any of its functions or apps. I have tried hard factory reset but when I perform that task as ll ther d is is system info, reboot, reboot to bootloader reboot to download mode reboot to recovery mode or power down. Doesnt have fact reset like normaly does and I have no clue why the pin is tried normals like last 4 cell number last s.s. all the genarics they normaly use any advice would be greatly appreciated. How to Unlock bootloader

I am Samsung galaxy note 3 SM N900 user. I want to install a custom rom on my phone. For it I need to unlock bootloader. But I can't even reboot into bootloader on note 3. Can someone please help me to know how to unlock the bootloader.

I got too tired of waiting for perm root/bootloader unlock soooo.....

I got a nexus 6. Traded it for my Note 4, plus the guy gave me 50 bucks. So that sweetened the deal for me. Overall I'm very happy with the trade, especially because I have an unlocked bootloader and can put any rom I want on it. So happy beyond belief. I'm sorry to anyone still stuck on their ATT note 4. It was pure boredom for me. Wish everyone on this forum luck, and it was fun while it lasted with you guys!

NFC unlock - I must be doin' it wrong

I set up NFC unlock using one of those tags. It seemed like it took a lot of tries to get the phone to see the NFC tag. Now that I have it set up, it seems next to impossible to unlock using the tag. Is there a trick or special movement that will get this done reliably?

Eventually I'd like to put a tag on a dock so I can set the phone in the dock and have Dock Clock start up.

I also notice that when it does unlock, it opens up the Play store to Tigger. (Maybe because I wrote the tag using Trigger from my N5 in the distant past.) Trigger sure wants a *lot* of permissions.

, its bootlooping into bootloader, so my first thought was unlock bootloader flash recovery and side load a rom, play with radios and such after, but trying to unlock the bootloader doesn't work I've tried HTC dev twice to check the unlock code but it pushes it to the device and claims it was successful I get this;

tried different USB cables and ports but every time I try I don't get the unlock splash screen asking me to unlock, so I went through the forums and tried a few things found that clearing cache or and data gives me

I then found an RUU for the device and was thankful the unlocking didn't work so I was still locked, but every one I try to download is corrupt? Anybody have a working link for a UK ee (orange) radios and firmware? And do I have the right idea with this, download, rename, chuck it on an sdcard and bootloader should find it automatically?

As mentioned, I need to go back to stock in order to unlock my phone but it has been a very long time since I have done anything techy to this phone. I know I needed an RUU file (which one?) and drivers but I also read about it failing in Windows 10. Can anyone advise how I can unlock my Rogers evita device?

How to unlock note 3 bootloader : Secure download :Enable

On download mode my note 3 shows SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLE in blue colour which I guess means my bootloader is locked . Whenever I flash any custom rom like cyanogen mod or any custom kernel I get stuck on kernel is not seandroid enforcing set warranty bit kernel . I'm currently on stock lollipop rom .

so my question is how to unlock note 3 bootloader so I can flash custom rom (I can flash and boot rom darkera but not cyanogenmod or aosp , aokp rom)

And how to remove SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLE from download mode

Backup for fingerprint unlock?

The fingerprint sensor is one reason I might update my N5 to a 5x and I was wondering what unlock methods are provided if you can't get a good fingerprint read, such as when wearing gloves (gets cold in this part of the country!).

Trying to unlock bootloader if phone not European?

I've bought a used G4 from someone who is "pretty sure" (but not 100% certain) that it's a European model, as it was purchased from a seller on Amazon shortly before the phone was released in the UK.

I want to root the phone, so my question is: if I try to unlock the bootloader using the official LG method, but the phone turns out NOT to be a European model, am I likely to brick the phone?

[GUIDE] How To Unlock Tethering on Nexus 5X.

I'll start off by saying I didn't come up with any of this method myself, its just different information I found scattered on different threads on XDA and Reddit. Maybe some other 5X users will find it useful contained in this thread.

Secondly, this requires an unlocked bootloader, also working adb and fastboot with correct drivers for your 5X, enable USB debugging. I won't go over that here, there are plenty of other guides on how to do that, and know that it will erase all your data. As long as you can find your device via "adb devices" and "fastboot devices" you should be fine.

Lastly, you will get the corrupt data message on phone startup. I don't see any negative effects with this, other than an annoying message. Also I'm still able to use the fingerprint scanner as well as set up Andoid Pay. I can't verify Android Pay as I don't have any stores near me that accept it.

You also won't have to flash any custom recovery or root the device, which keeps it closer to stock, which hopefully will allow Android Pay to still function, hopefully someone with a Android Pay store nearby can test this to verify.

First grab TWRP for 5X from here. Save it in the same folder as your adb/fastboot install.
Make sure your phone is connected to your computer, open command prompt and verify adb sees your phone.

Now we boot from TWRP without having to flash/install it.

When TWRP finishes booting, click Mount and check the box for /system

Now we need to pull the build.prop file.

Using a text editor add this line to the end of the build.prop file and save it.

I'm currently using this method and it is working for me. I'm on Verizon with a Grandfathered Unlimited Plan, so I can't test it for any other carriers.
Most of this information I pulled from this reddit thread, I just did my best to condense it down and simplify it, and make it aimed toward the Nexus 5X specifically.

edit* People are confirming on the Reddit thread on their Nexus 6 that Android Pay is still working after making these changes!

T-Mobile is Unlock App Rocks

Not sure if this can go here but I was having problems unlocking my Note 5 on T-Mobile, I am financing it but I have had it on my account account for more than 45 days and every time I used the unlock appreciate it would error out well I called T-Mobile and I decided to trying while I was on hold and BAM it unlocked, so I was able permanent unlock KY T-Mobile Note 5 sexyness, which is awesome the app took a little loving to work but it did eventually and now I can use my AT&T Sim when I'm out in the boonies.

Unlock Bootloader voids Nexus Protect (Google Warranty)?

Will unlocking the bootloader void the Nexus Protect warranty provided by Google? Ive read that once unlocking the bootloader there is a fuse that breaks to prove that the device has been unlocked. Is this true? If so does anyone know if doing so will void the protect program? Kinda silly if its true since Nexus are great Developer phones.
