What worked for me to fix: The frp lock Soft-brick (using Samsung Smart Switch)

This will save you 8-12 hours of your time if you are lucky. This means that it also includes the meaningful links of 8-12 hours of searching. Sentences in italic are important. 1 link is for the Odin official website, the rest are re-links back into XDA.
The device in question is a SM-925T Tmobile S6 Edge.
The problem was this. I rooted my phone and messed around with Greenify and the Play store. To prepare for rooting, I allowed unknown downloads, unlocked the bootloader, and turned my security lock off (I had set it to a finger print lock). After I was done rooting, I immediately locked the bootloader again(<--A mistake that caused my bootloop/ soft-brick). After I was finished messing with the above apps (Greenify, etc), I wanted my phone to restart. So I held the Power button and selected restart, while I was on the lock screen (may not be important). I noticed that it took a long time to restart, and upon closer examination, I noticed another error under the "kernel is not seandroid enforcing" (which appears to be natural for rooted phones). The error was "Custom Binary blocked by FRP Lock". It was a new error. I investigated this new problem using the internet , and this dude was panicking like hell, but he didn't appear to fix his problem. He did hint that returning to the bootloader to its locked state was a mistake. Looked a bit more and this guy pointed to another thread, which introduced me to flashing and more importantly his fix, which was to flash the stock 5.1.1 image through odin. He used this link, which contains all the stock firmware for the majority of the new Samsung S6 and S6 edge versions. To make a long story short, most of these fixes involved flashing your firmware to the stock version. So I went to the Odin Website, and downloaded every version, as a couple threads have said that different versions worked for them. Here is a thread with everything you need for Odin. Now, after sorting through and finding micro USB cables that are detectable by Odin, an important step because Odin might develop a pattern of detecting then failing to detect your device through that cable, and testing all the usb 2.0 ports, I was ready, and had Odin with my stock firmware. Odin kept saying "NAND Write", then in the next line "FAIL". This was annoying as Odin wouldn't detect my device again unless I unplugged it, restarted it to download mode, then restarted Odin before plugging it back in. I got confused and found links for somehow fixing the .tar files, stock roms, .pit files (DO NOT MESS AROUND WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THOSE THINGS DO), and other threads/websites that say to boot into recovery mode , factory reset, then wipe your cache. I could only do that once. After me messing around with all of the above file variants and supposed fixes to help with my issue, I couldn't boot into recovery mode, it got stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge" logo. It did not fix the NAND write failing. There however, are a lot of websites allowing you to download stock software for your phones, and I don't think I can link them as it might break a rule. Surprisingly, some have claimed that using a stock file for another device worked to fix their problem. This thread, which convinced me to use Smart Switch when it failed for everyone else, was very useful, although I recommend downloading Smart Switch from the official website of Samsung. None of the Odin flashing had worked so far, including the Roms and .pit files so I tried Smart Switch. I opened it, and upon selecting the "more" tab on the upper right corner, a bunch of tabs drop down. One should be "Emergency Software recovery and initialization". I had to find my S / N (Serial) number, and I was very confused on how to obtain that number as I was locked out. But to obtain it, do the same process to boot into download (hold volume down, home key, and power key), but stay on the prompt and don't go to the screen that has the word download in the middle. Don't do anything other then reaching the prompt confirming if you want to install a custom ROM. Then, press the home key and it should show your S / N number along with your IMEI number. Once I imputed the code I saw on my phone into Smart Switch, it told me to connect the device. Now, by this time, I realized that Odin only detects my device if it is actually in the download screen. Why shouldn't my computer? I booted into Download on my phone and followed the steps on my computer, making sure that the computer can recognize my phone while it is using a valid USB port and Cable. And after some waiting, for me, my problem was fixed and I could use my phone again, it reverted to it's out-of-box state. I hope this drawn out but very specific explanation helps you guys. It's my first post :) And also, this thread confirms that you can use a USB port for flashing(at least for ROMS), Smart Switch, and for rooting.

Update Ascend Mate 7 MT7-TL10 using TWRP?

I have tried to update the recommended way by loading the dload directory onto the microsd card and the going to 'System > Updater > Menu > Local Update'. When I do that it just reboots and takes me to TWRP. I have tried to do the force update by pressing the 'volume up + power' at the same time. The phone just brings me to TWRP screen. I am not able to do the update. Has anyone else had this problem?

How to theme your 5x using RRO

Here is a small guide on theming your device using the built in "theme engine" a.k.a. "RRO" until it's properly supported with Layers Manager.

Do not attempt this unless your are prepared to do a factory reset in a worst case scenario.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Requirements.
  • Root: LINK

  • BusyBox: LINK

  • Root file explorer.

  • Layers theme: LINK

Quote:

PLEASE NOTE.
THE THEMES MUST BE COMPATIBLE WITH MARSHMALLOW TO RESTRICT PROBLEMS.

Steps.

  1. Gain root.

  2. Install BusyBox open the app and click "Install" (see screenshot below).

  3. Use a root file explorer (I use root explorer) to create a folder named "overlay" in "system/vendor" and set its permissions to 775 (see screenshot below).

  4. Download theme/s. TIP do this through your browser to view the package name in the address bar as it will make things easier on the next step.
    example:

    Code:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dully79.graphite&hl=en

  5. Using the file explorer navigate to "data/app" and locate the theme you installed.

  6. Inside the folder you will find an apk named "base.apk", copy the apk to your sdcard.

  7. Click the apk and select "view"

  8. Navigate to "assets>Files" and extract the zip/s.

  9. Extract the apks from the extracted zip and copy the desired overlays to the overlay folder we created earlier.

  10. Reboot.

PLEASE NOTE. THE FRAMEWORK LAYER IN GRAPHITE IS UNSUPPORTED AT THIS TIME. DO NOT USE IT.

Problems?.
Until we can view the vendor folder from recovery, here is how to fix a troublesome layer.
  • Navigate to the overlay folder and delete the layer/s that is causing the issue.

  • As a last resort, If you cannot gain access to the overlay folder we need to do a factory reset.

Has anyone tried using their Z5 underwater?

Hi all! I just wanted to ask if anyone here has already tried using their Z5 for underwater shots? I just wanted to know as underwater usage is going to be my deciding factor in buying the Z5P. I know they're IP-65 68 rated but Sony's policy for waterproofing has changed. So yeah, just curious if the Z5 still has Sony's much-touted waterproofing ability. Thanks!

Dull lockscreen wallpaper when using Fingerprint

I noticed that when I set a photo to use as my lockscreen wallpaper that it looks super dull and washed out. I use the fingerprint lock, so I went into settings and set it to swipe. Well the picture looks perfectly vivid and bright on the lockscreen now. But when I switch back to fingerprint it gets dull.

it's a very annoying issue :(

Screen vibrates a lot when using loud speaker. Will this breaks the glass?

HI all. The front glass of my z3c vibrates a lot when using the loud speaker. I'm afraid that in the long run, the glass will break. I wonder if this is related to all of the "self cracking glass" issues that this phone has!? Any idea guys?

Anyone have success using USB OTG?

I have a USB drive that has Micro USB OTG on it. I was trying to transfer some data from my Nexus 5 to my Nexus 5X. I have a OnePlus MicroUSB > USB C adaptor which works fine with a USB cable to my computer, but isn't recognising the flash drive. I also used a OTG to USB A adaptor and put the flash drive in there and still nothing. Has anyone successfully used USB OTG on the 5X?

[Q] Using SIM2 without SIM1?

IMEI 1 is gone when i bought the device, Galaxy Grand Duos. It has cloned. I don't know that i can explain, i think it's meaning same thing in English. I can use it with only mine SIM, until i buy Grand Duos. But now i bought new device and i have to solve this problem for using with another SIM.

Imei1 (SIM1) is cloned but there is no problem with Imei2 (SIM2). However i can't use both of them. I think SIM2 is connected SIM1 for working but not sure. Can i deactivate completely SIM1 for using SIM2, or change Imei's from SIM slots, is that solves problem?

Or what can i do? Sorry if can't explain my problem or can't use English true. It's my first post :) Thanks for replies.

Odd hissing and generally annoying noises while using headset with Mic on phone call

Ok..maybe I just got a bad unit. But here it is. Phone is one day old.

When I initiate a phone call with my wired headset, I immediately get hissing. Then if I move my head or the wire brushes my cheek.. it sounds like someone is making sexy time with a paper sack inside my head. This isn't an echo as it is real-time. All the noise is obviously being picked up by the mic and is pumped into my ears at an explosive level. I attempted to turn the volume down which only resulted in the call volume dropping rather than the demonic feedback. It kind of reminds me of the in-ear monitors that vocalists would use.

Here's what I've tried:
1) 6 different headsets, all different brands and cost including the freebies that came with the phone. The only set that didn't blow my eardrums out with noise were some cheap ass Maxwells from Wal-Mart, but the problem was still there
2) looked through all the settings I could find. The only thing that makes a difference is turning on TTY mode.. which causes too low a volume for me to carry a conversation without going into a noise cancelling chamber.
3) applied the latest OTA update. No change

What I'm willing to try:
1) rooting and flashing a new rom.. But only if this will actually fix my issue.
2) perform a sacrificial ritual involving an SII, an SIII, and an S4... None of which had this issue.
3) changing some call setting that is hidden somewhere between Narnia and Atlantis....

Thanks in advance

Cannot Download in HD from Google "Play Movies & TV" App When Using HTC One M8

I have a weird issue on my M8 where none of my Google "Play Movies & TV" HD television shows or movies that I purchased download in HD. (Streaming in HD not an issue.) Tried multiple ROMs, including Stock, Sense-based, and Cyanogen, but cannot get the M8 to download from this app in HD. On my Note 5, no issues whatsoever. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm running the latest international firmware (changing to developer edition firmware didn't help) and running the latest Play Movies & TV app (3.9.2.0). Thanks!

Accidentally delete everything using TWRP in "wipe"

Hey,
first of all i KNOW there is a subject with nearly the exact same topic, and i followed the directions but somethng doesn't work.

I still have TWRP on the phone, and when im in bootloader mode and run "fastboot devices" i see the result.
but i can't seem to ADB push or anything else (maybe im missing some commands?)

so i used the NRT root kit and i use the "fastboot flash" function and install the .img file - the software says my device is identified and it installs the system.img file (found on the "image-hammerhead-mra58k" zip), but then the device boots to TWRP and still can't boot to the system itself.

help please!

[Tutorial] - How to install any firmware using Windows Device Recovery Tool

It worked for me, it might work for you. Do it at your own risk.

Windows Device Recovery Tool (WDRT) will download and install only the latest version of the software available for your device.
This tutorial will show you how to use WDRT to install ANY firmware version you want on your windows phone device.
That is, you can upgrade or downgrade. For example, go from wp 10 to wp 8.0, or from wp 8.1 to wp 8.0, or whatever you want.

Here is how to use Windows Device Recovery Tool to install any firmware released for your model:

I try to ilustrate the process in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnLQ_u4kF7E

STEPS:

0) Download the firmware you want to install (only the .ffu file)

1) Let WDRT downloads the last firmware version for your model (that's what it does). When the download is completed, close the program before the installation starts. You don't have to have the last firmware version installed on your phone, but you have to have it on the WDRT folder.

2) Go to the location where WDRT stores the files: c:/programdata/microsoft/packages/products/

3) Duplicate the folder "RM-xxx" (your model) containing the files WDRT downloaded. You'll have two folders with the same content, like "RM-xxx" and "ARM-xxx", for example.

4) Go back to the place where the .ffu file you want to install is and copy it.

5) Enter the "ARM-xxx" folder and paste the .ffu file.

5) Now you have two .ffu files in "ARM-xxx" folder. Copy the name of the original .ffu file that was already there before you paste the other .ffu file and delete it (the original one).

6) Rename the .ffu file you've just pasted with the name you just copied.

5) Open WDRT, select your phone, and click install/reinstall. After the program checks the compatibility of the files, the message "switching the phone to flashing mode" will apear, as soon as it happens, go back to the "Products" folder and rename the folder "RM-xxx" to something else, like "RM-xxxA, and rename the folder "ARM-xxx" to "RM-xxx". This has to be done quickly, before the installation starts.

6) If everything is OK, the installation will start and you'll have your firmware installed.

With this method i finally got my lumia 620 working again, after the touch screen stopped working due to an accidentally upgrade. I couldn't use any other method because both my lumia volume buttons are broken, so the flashing process needed to be automatic.

Stream video to TV without using router

I have a SM-T800 and can use iMediaShare to stream video from it to my LG flat screen with no problems as long as I am connected to my home router.
I also have a TV in my 5th wheel which I would like to use to view video that is on my Tab S.
The problem (I think) is that there is no network router available in the 5th wheel to act as the access point for the TV and Tab S.
Is there a way to set up the Tab S to act as the "router" for the TV to connect to?
I have tried "portable Hot Spot" as well as VPN that comes with Android 5. Cant get either to work.
Any suggestions?

Problem in booting in recovery using Physical keys on Canvas Knight A350

I have Canvas Knight A350. Its recovery was working perfectly fine before but i flashed some custom roms i am not able to boot into recovery mode using the three keys Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Button. On pressing the three keys simultaneously my phone starts powering on rather than showing the menu which asks for pressing down button for factory mode and up button for recovery. But using MTK Droid Tools i can easily reboot into recovery by using its option to reboot into recovery. I tried Formatting the whole flash with bootloader and then again flashing the rom but the problem still persists. Please Help.

CM12.1 File Manager is using network data. Why?

Why in the world is the CyanogenMod 12.1 file manager using my data network? I don't use it for network operations. Heck, I didn't even know it was capable of network access.

This worries me a bit, as it looks a lot like malware behavior.
