Restore Galaxy note 10.1 to factory rom

I have reset to factory and it still will not let me do a software update it says the tablet has been modified. Antivirus picks up com.sns which then roots the device and I cannot get rid of it. Have reset to factory a number of times and formatted the SD card. Trying to use Samsung kies on PC, picks up there is a newer version, downloads and then nothing happens. How can I fix it ?

EFS image restore from another device

Hi,

I have a Galaxy Nexus I9250 (Canada Rogers). I did the big mistake of formatting all partitions (including /factory efs image) and lost my IMEI. Now it's got the generic 004999010640000 IMEI.

My friend was kind enough to take a backup of his own (I9250) device IMEI and shared it with me.

Is it possible to restore and EFS image of another similar device?

I did the following but still the IMEI is generic.

|root@android:/data/radio # dd if=/sdcard/efsFriend.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=4096
img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=4096 <
5120+0 records in
5120+0 records out
20971520 bytes transferred in 2.581 secs (8125346 bytes/sec)

I have also tried fuxkDocomo (****Docomo) and lots of other workarounds.

Updating Exodus Nandroid Restore Issue

Sorry if this has already been asked; I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything.

I'm running Exodus version 5.1-20150911-NIGHTLY-bacon, TWRP 2.8.6, Exodus stock kernel
I'm trying to update to a new nightly, but I always get stuck in a bootloop.

Here's what I do:
Reboot to recovery
Nandroid backup
Wipe data, system, cache, Dalvik
Flash the new ROM (I tried COS 12.1 once, but it didn't work; I mostly try flashing the latest Exodus nightly_
(sometimes) Flash xposed-v74-sdk22-arm-by-romracer (it doesn't make a difference if I don't flash it)
Restore only the data from the last nandroid

Now when I reboot I'll just be stuck in the boot animation or I'll be able to pass the animation and I'll just be stuck in a loop setting up the apps.

If I don't flash xposed, but still restore the nandroid I'll boot up faster, but I get System UI has Stopped and then the phone goes into a boot animation loop
If I don't restore the nandroid it works fine and boots up way faster.

How can I update while keeping my app data (my xposed data isn't that important to me if that'll make a difference)?

Restore new Moto X from a TWRP backup of old Moto X after unlocking bootloader.

Hey all,

Just a quick question here. I got a new replacement for my Moto X Pure that seemed to have a charging port get stuck in usb charging only.

Can I unlock the bootloader then flash TWRP and after that restore a TWRP backup I have saved from the old phone to the new one? Will that work and save me all the time of re-rooting and xposed intstalls?

I can't recall ever having an issue like this where I replaced the phone and then restored a backup from the other phone.

Thanks,
Hasherx1

TWRP Nandroid backups of /data won't restore

None of my /data backups from the past month will restore. Instead, each restore will end with "extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255" (more from log below).

Code:

file: //data/data/com.android.externalstorage/lib
  ==> extracting: //data/data/com.android.externalstorage/lib (symlink to )
symlink(): No such file or directory
FAILED RESTORE OF FILE i: //data/data/com.android.externalstorage/lib
E:Unable to extract tar archive '/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/04ce21cdcfd6c9c3/2015-10-22--16-35-10/data.f2fs.win000'
I:Error extracting '/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/04ce21cdcfd6c9c3/2015-10-22--16-35-10/data.f2fs.win000' in thread ID 0
E:Error extracting split archive.
E:extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255

Here's the setup:
Recovery: Multirom TWRP (2015-06-30 2.8.7)
ROM: CM12.1 nightlies and more recently crDroid (CM12.1 based)
F2FS formatted /data, /cache, /sdcard

Here's what I've done to investigate:
1. Thinking the problem had to do with compressed backups, I uncompressed using Nandroid Manager. No difference.
2. Thinking the problem had to do with the backup being spread across multiple .win tar files, I concatenated them into one .win tar file. No difference.
3. Thinking that perhaps I could unarchive the tar and adb push the /data partition. It pushed fine and booted, however the davlik cache wasn't rebuilt when booting and the OS was unusable due to FC.
4. Thinking that I just needed to remove the files/directories that were throwing errors during restore, I used tar --delete to remove files/directory from the nandroid backup. This was somewhat successful in that the restore would progress further before failing, but it would just throw a similar error for another directory.

I haven't figured out why these backups won't restore, but I've thus far resorted to just restoring my most recent backup that will restore. The problem with this is that my future backups seem to have this same problem of not being restorable.

What to do?

How do you restore app data without usb & without root?

I have an s4 (rooted) and I usually use titanium for my backup/restore when I get a new device. I obviously can't do that (since there is no root yet on 5x) and I don't have a usb-c to usb cable so I cant do something like helium.

How are you guys restoring everything?

(androids built in restore is suck... it only did 8 apps, ha).

How to restore system apps uninstalled by Titanium backup

Hi, everyone,

I uninstalled some system apps by Titanium Backup and cannot restore them.
  • com.android.bluetooth 4.4.2

  • org.codeaurora.bluetooth 4.4.2

I didn't know system apps cannot be restored after uninstallation by Titanium Backup. Googling on the web and this forum didn't solve the issue. I need these apps to use a bluetooth keyboard.

How would you solve this problem? Thanks in advance!

[My environment]
  • Model : Sony Xperia SO-04F

  • Android version : 4.4.2

  • Kernel version : 3.4.0-perf-g0ce556e

Unable to restore back to xt1032 from xt1033?

I'm still a beginner so bear with me here but after flashing Moto g RETAIL-GB_4.4.2_KLB20.9-1.10-1.9_cid7_CFC_1FF_v5_SVC.xml (XT1032) from a stock xt1033 the result is bricked.
Trying to find out what the problem was, I found that RetailGB said: hab check failed for recovery, hab check failed for boot and version downgraded for gpt and version downgraded for tz.
Could somebody help me out here? I made a mistake updrading to lollipop and downgrade with the wrong version. Thanks!
