Samsung Wireless Charging Pack Review

Hi Guys,

This is going to be my first review. figured it might help some people decide whether to buy Samsungs Wireless Charging Pack. For those in the Philippines, i got mine at the samsung official store in SM Aura, BGC Taguig

Just got it a few hours ago so this will just be my initial review with photos, ill give a whole day of use review tomorrow when ive had the chance to use it fully.

Findings:

1.) The case is huge, actual measurement with the phone in is 1.8cm or 0.7 inches. It really feels like a brick

2.) It makes the phone heavy. I dont have a way to measure it exactly but an estimate would be a can of coke (the drink).

3.) its not "Fast Charging" feels like the speed of a normal wireless charger, about an hour for 25%. but then its a phone case with a battery so its not much of a bother since there are no cables.

4.) Wireless charging doesnt work with the case on. the case will charge your phone wirelessly, but if you put it on top of your "desk/normal wireless charger" with the case on, it wont charge your phone. case is too thick

5.) not sure if this is safe or if it might damage the phone, but if i plug the case to charge with the phone attached to it, it charges both. the case charges and it charges the phone wirelessly at the same time.

6.) as can be seen on the photo, there is no "over lap" or "lip" when the phone is in the case. if your phone drops screen first, there is no protection

so basically thats all i can say for now. Tom ill try to see if it can charge the phone to full from empty with one charge.

Im a heavy phone user, the note 5 if unplugged at 7am only lasts me till 2pm. so this will help alot. i can deal with the increased size and weight as long as my phone makes it to bedtime.

let me know if you have any questions, ill try to answer them.

Very slow charging when the screen is on

Has anybody noticed that if you have the screen on, the battery charges extremely slowly.

I've noticed that w the screen on using gsam, the battery is only being charged at 500mah whereas if the screen is off, it is being charged at 2200mah.

I get it that the phone will charge slower w the screen on, but it shouldn't be this bad.

Here's a screenshot, you can see that I started charging a little before 4pm and after 50 min it only charged aroudn 10%.

Once I turn the screen off it will start charging very fast. But it shouldn't be charging this slowly w the screen on.

Anker Battery stops charging at 50%

I have an i9505 running resurrection remix 5.5.6 with alucard kernel. all was going ok-ish until I used the battery calibration app to delete the batterystats.bin file. since then the battery will only charge up until the high forties or low fifties in percentage terms. the battery was fully charged when I calibrated it, it's really getting on my nerves now.

could it be a kernel thing ? I have fast charge enabled in alucard...

any help would be appreciated !!!

CHOE Qi Fast Charging Pad (10W Output) for $27.99 AC + FSSS

http://slickdeals.net/f/8180896-choe...src=SiteSearch

Cheotech via Amazon has CHOE QI Fast Wireless Charger (color black only) with Quick Charge 2.0 adapter for .99 when you apply promotion code GWLKG54L. Shipping is free

You can also get off the white charger without the QC 2.0 adapter with code Y2QSALGB for a total of .99.

Edit/Clarification: This is a fast wireless charger with a max output of 10W for Samsung Note 5 and S6 Edge+. This is not the same as a regular wireless charger with a max output of 5W, however this charger can be used with any device that supports standard wireless Qi charging as well as devices that support fast wireless charging.

USB Charging Port Malfunctioning

My USB charging port is acting up recently. It's very finicky.

Just last few days, I cannot get "Fast Charging". It just shows regular cable charging.

I've tried:
(1) Firmware Factory Reset
(2) Tried different USB cable aside from the OEM
(3) Tried different wall adapter aside from the OEM
(4) Making sure USB cable is pushed all the way in.
(5) Tried using different wall outlets

I have had this phone for a little over a month.

Anyone else having this charging issue, and found a resolution?

Low charging current on i9505, CM12.1 SABERMOD

So.. my s4 with CM12.1 SABERMOD(oct 15) has low charging current, 760 Ma.
My question is: Can i change it the charging voltage, if the kernel doens't support STweaks to change it from battery AC Charge current setting, like i do from others roms ?

asking in particular @Synergy510

charging dock / cradle

Hi,

Has anyone been able to find a suitable charging dock / cradle for the XRN2?

How can you tell if it's charging "quickly" vs "regular" AC?

I've seen a picture somewhere that shows the phone displaying "charging rapidly" at the bottom of the lock screen. I think it was on droid life. I'm plugged in with the included charger & cable and it only says simply "charging"... Is something wrong, am I missing something, anyone know?

Found it, here's the picture I'm referring to from droid life:

Retrofit Wireless Charging Receiver in Nexus 5X?

I just saw the iFixit teardown
https://youtu.be/VYFbSpvSE-w

I retrofitted a Galaxy S5 and S4 to wireless charging with Qi receivers off of eBay:

I know there is one for the G4 (since it's in their flip cover), but I was wondering if it is possible to work with an existing coil and wire it up to the Nexus 5X.

First, the cover pops off like a Galaxy S5 cover:

Here is the back cover and internals. Normally, the NFC covers the battery, but I am thinking it might be above the camera since there are connectors from cover to internals and would make sense for Android pay. So, what is the big shield on the right that covers the battery? (see question mark):

I think the battery posts are under the white piece of tape on the right - easy access for an NFC receiver to charge:

Worst case, the battery contacts are accessible under the midframe (10 screws):

So, do you think a retrofit of an existing Qi receiver would work? (the NFC part might be not used). The shield on the back over the battery might have to be removed, but I am not sure of it's purpose. Alternatively, anybody heard if any company is making a Qi receiver for the 5X? I'd buy the 5X over the 6P if I could get wireless charging.

Wife's M8 charging question

When she took the latest update on her M8 only a HTC charger will charge the phone. If she uses any other charger it can't keep up and charges very slow or a window pops up saying the charger in use can't keep up. So what was in the latest update that caused this. As before the update she could use any of the chargers we had laying around.

Z1 charging bootloop

Hey!

I'm using a Xperia Z1 as a spare phone for testing roms and such and it's currently running android M.

Because I'm stupid, I let the battery die and now the phone gets stuck in a loop :

Plugged in>Sony logo>Charging animation>Turns Off>Sony logo>Charging animation and that keeps looping, holding the power button just reboots the phone in the charge animation as well

Does anyone know what to do?

Dorimanx/Gsstudios Kernel - Battery Charging Logo Missing

Hi everyone. :)
I've just installed the last build of Dorimanx/Gsstudios kernel Here, and the first thing which I've noted is that when the phone is turned off and under recharge, the battery animation is missing. The screen is completely dark. This is very annoying, since I cannot see the percentage of charge. Do you know if this is normal or if there is a workaround to put the battery charge animation in its place?

Many thanks in advance...

Nexus 7 (2012) Charging very very slow after flash

Hello guys,

Here's what happened with my N7 2012

-> Got lollypop update, it made my tablet almost useless
-> So i stopped using it for around 5 months - during this time tablet was in power off stage with around 50% battery
-> Yesterday i learned how to install factory image and successfully did so - now its running very smooth on KitKat 4.4.4 (KTU84P)
-> But it takes VERY long to charge this thing - it took 5-6 hours to get it to 50% (in power off stage)
-> I allowed it to drain completely and again tried recharging but its still very slow
-> Note that battery does not drain fast - once charged, it works perfectly and drains properly according to usage
-> Edit: I have checked my charging wire & adapter (Original Asus) - when used with other devices, it works properly.

I am prepared to buy new battery and replace it but what if my charging port corroded? - I inspected it but cant see any aging/corrosion with bare eyes - tried to clean it (dry) with a brush - no help.
Any suggestion / help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks
PS: if there is way to shut off annoying os update notification can anyone please share?

charging rapidly with aukey quickcharge 2.0 wall charger and type c adapter

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...ilpage_o08_s01

the latter also allowed me to fastboot oem unlock.

Type A to Type C High Amp Charging

After tons of consternation, I'm starting to feel a little better about charging the Nexus 6P. The Android Life Post, unscientific as it might be, clearly shows that the Type C phone is not dropping to legacy USB power profiles. In addtion, the Type A to Type C cable on Google's Store site carries this footnote:

¹Charge rate will vary depending on the capabilities of the legacy USB port.

Read "legacy" as Type A. This clearly intimates that the charge rate will vary based on the output of the USB port. Hence a 2.4Ap charger will charge up to 2.4A and not 0.5A or 0.9A which are legacy rates. Hence, it is possible to run 3A from Type A to Type C given he appropriate charger and cable. But even 2.4A isn't bad.

Why is my 5x "Charging slowly"?

Just got my 5x today, and it does "rapid charging" when I connect with the charger in the box, but when I connect using other USB cables/plugs (one supports QC 2.0, the other is a regular charger but supports 2.1A charging), I get a message that the device is "Charging slowly."

Are there other certain specs that a cable or charger has to have to take advantage of rapid charging?
