Customizing base band modem firmware... Has anyone ever even attempted this? In many ways, the baseband is a more interesting and capable piece of hardware than the application processor is. I'm not a coder so I wouldn't know where to start, but I am thoroughly surprised there isn't more work/interest in this area.

How to check if a Nexus 5 has ever been rooted?
Hi,
I have a small question regarding a nexus 5. Is there a way to know if my Nexus 5 has ever been rooted?
In my office, we are having a connectivity problem with a nexus 5 and after talking with google they request us to send them the phone. They asked if the phone is or has been rooted which, I guess, voids the warranty.
We use the phones for developing software and research proejcts, and I know that some of them some times are rooted, some times use not official-roms, etc. So despite it looks that the broken nexus 5 is a stock one, I'd like to check it and to make sure that it has never been rooted. Is there a way to do so?
Apparently the Nexus 5 is not rooted: play store apps say so, and the bootloader is locked. Still, I cannot be completely sure that the phone has never been unrooted. Is there a way to check that?

Will root ever be available for Verizon S6 Edge Plus?
So is rooting an S6 Edge Plus just a matter of finding out how to do it without making the phone unusable, or can it just not be done?

Sooooo, RAVPower just released a device to Amazon US and Amazon UK. Annoyingly, I still can't post links here, but search for the phrase "The first ever external battery charger with USB-C/Type-C" and you'll find it (perhaps someone could add links below?)
It's a bit of a monster both in terms of weight and capacity, so I don't see it being a daily driver, but I've asked whether they have anything smaller on the way. I hope to hear back from them soon and I'll update below.
It's pricey too, at / £40. So, there's that.
But, hey - an external battery with 5V/3A USB Type-C in and out. We're finally getting there, folks! :highfive:
