Basic Mods Questions- Unlock, Root, AdAway, Tether, TWRP

When I get phone I'm most interested in doing build prop edit for tether, installing custom recovery TWRP for 6P and AdAway would be nice. Loss of Google Pay not a show stopper. Would like to do OTA factory image updates or modified images until custom ROMs and Kernels mature.
Can someone please post idiot proof specific instructions or guide links. I know some basics but assume others do not.

Galaxy S6 Edge 925A 5.1.1 Root/Downgrade/TWRP Questions

I purchased a S6 Edge and it was updated to 5.1.1 when I got it. I am a big fan of rooting/flashing ROMS/mods (My last phone was an extremely modded Oneplus One which met an untimely end) but I am not really sure how to do that on this phone. I would very much appreciate any help with info on how to root/install TWRP. Additionally I know that the S6 on 5.0.2 can be rooted but I also heard that once you update to 5.1.1 can't downgrade but it's worth a shot. I also heard that the AT@T version has a locked boot loader is there any way to unlock it? If not would flashing say a T-Mobile stock ROM work? Thank you for any help. I also know that Devs don't like being asked for ETAs so instead I will ask if anyone knows how development of Cyenogenmod for the S6 Edge is progressing?

Considering Switching from Galaxy S4 to LG G4 and I have some questions

First off, Hi and I'm considering updating to the G4 for the following reasons:

1: Only camera that supports RAW shooting and Manual camera
2: MicroSD card is still an option.
3: I can swap batteries when needed.

I'm getting the phone from Costco and expect it will come with the latest update (612a I think) but I can't be sure till I get the phone. How tough is this phone to root? I'm not interested in custom ROMS or unlocked bootloaders, just want root for Adblocker, TI Backup, and debloating. Looks like I have to keep the VZW app running for advanced calling, so that is no big deal.

What are some problems with the phone. I've noticed touchscreen issues that seem to be fixed with the latest update, anything else I need to be aware of?

How is the battery life in real world usage? Will I get a day out of it Surfing, answering calls/emails, streaming video on occasion?

Should I stick wit VZW or jump to AT&T? My contract is up and I'm losing my unlimited data, so there is no reason to stick with VZW anymore. Is AT&T any better or worse than Verizon?

Headset Questions

I bought a really nice set of in-ear headphones to work with my N5.
However they don't appear to work with the N5x.
Have they decided to change the spec to an "Apple" standard rather than the normal "Android" standard?

If so, this may well be the most annoying/expensive decision ever!

So many questions...

1. How's the build quality? Did it mess up like the Nexus 9?
2. How does the plastic feel? Does it feel like my Nexus 9?
3. Is QFuse in the Nexus 5X?
4. Anything to be careful about?
5. Is it worth it? If not, what device should I get? My country (Hong Kong) is currently in the Waitlist...

Just got this phone, and have a few questions about rooting.

Hey guys, ive just bought one of these and its on 4.4.2. Its not giving me a notification for the lollipop OTA, but the HTC sync software says there is one. Now my question is, Should I root and unlock bootloader before doing the update or after? Which one would be a less time consuming process? Also, are there any methods of unlocking the bootloader without using the sunshine app? I guess ill pay if i have no choice, but ill have to wait till next month before i have the money to do so and im itching to remove this godawful verzion bloat. One last thing, i bought the phone from a reseller in India, and am using it on a GSM network currently, but will use it with a CDMA one in future (its working now, tested on 2 CDMA networks). I just want to make sure that updating will not stop it from working with Indian CDMA.

Hello everyone. I am getting ready to transfer service from att back to big red and am probably going to end up with the G4, and was wondering what the development is like on this phone. Does CM have any development moving forward to the device, anyone working on a rooted/debloated/fixed ROM. I know the device only just got root this summer, so I know it takes time to get these things, but just wondering if anything is at least in the works.

LG-E900 questions about apps

I have my E900 "devunlocked" (is that the right name for this?).

Now I got a Lumia 640 DS and wanted to import my WhatsApp files complete. Problem is that I cannot export these files anyhow. So is there a nother way to at least save them on my harddisk?
There are more than 40 chats with pictures and so on and I don'T want to lose them.

But the phone should be sold.

A few questions about using the Nexus player as a cable box

Hi all,

Since the price of the Nexus player has dropped considerably, I'm thinking I may get one + a HD Homerun prime for my father for Christmas, but I have a few questions. I already have a Nvidia Shield TV, so I know how Android TV works and it's limitations. The only thing I haven't done is use the live TV apps for watching TV on it.

Is watching TV on it using a HD Homerun prime pretty painless once configured? I should note that we live in Oregon and the cable provider here is Comcast. In terms of channels, he really doesn't watch much (mostly Fox News, ESPN, HBO, and local channels). The big one that is a MUST though is Pac-12 network - my sister plays softball for the University of Washington and Pac-12 network is necessary to watch all the games we can't make it to. My understanding is that DRM channels won't work with the live TV app - is there any other way to view them on the device? I should also note that DVR functionality isn't a must have feature if it's a pain to get it working.

I'm not worried about it being too tech heavy for my dad to use - he's already got Ethernet running throughout the house (this device would be connected via Ethernet) and has done OTA TV before using Windows Media Center & my Xbox 360. However, if it isn't more seamless to browse and watch TV on than his cablebox, I'm not sure he'll actually want to make the change.

Upgrade questions on Sprint from LYZ28J to MRA58K

I have a factory shipped nexus 6 that i've been using since day one. I've never updated the firmware nor been promted to, mainly because I'm rooted and running custom roms. I'm currently running Pure 5.1.1

My question is... there is no straight upgrade from LYZ28J to MRA58K. Furthermore, I'm looking at sprints site and they dont list LYZ28J as their firmware, and in-fact its a t-mobile firmware. Is it displaying LYZ28J because of my rom? Do i have to upgrade from LYZ28J -> LYZ28K -> LYZ28M -> MRA58K ??
